Installation instructions for expansion joint profiles in the interior

With more than 30 years of experience in the German and European markets, your ASM-Profile team as a specialist for joint profiles is always at your disposal with advice and action.

Expansion joint profiles retrofitted:

 

Remove dirt and mortar residues. In order to achieve a completely flat bearing surface of the profile legs, the Hollow spaces as well as possibly plate scrapings on both sides of the fugue thus created has to be trowel off force-fit. In order to ensure the load-bearing capacity of the profile, must be taken care that the profile leg is non-positive and full-surface on the ground. The profile is to be fastened to the substrate on both sides with a dowel (6 mm plastic dowel) and countersunk head screws (M5) at a distance of 300 mm from both sides.

When fitting in floating screed / bonded screed, an additional attachment of profiles on the concrete floor can be dispensed. It is very important to note that the mortar bed under the support legs is at least 20 mm so that the occurring loads are transferred to the profile of the mortar bed.
Also make sure that the mortar or screed penetrates the profile holes. You have to lay the tiles and the flooring with a normal joint distance against the Profile and the joint between the profile and flooring must be sealed with grout to the bottom.
With the grout you have to create a frictional connection between the leg of the profile and the adjacent flooring.
By prefabrication you have to ensure a flat floor for installing the profile's.
Otherwise it could come to damages in the transition region between the covering and the profile.

Assembly Joint profiles Required installation instructions for rolling loads

To ensure a vibration free and stable mounting of the profiles, there has to be an 100 mm wide plastic- or epoxy resin, pressure resistant fine plaster on both sides of the joint on the concrete floor.
After drying the fine plaster, the profile is aligned to the joint design aligned.
Using an underlay for the profile support legs, to possibly compensate height differences, is not permitted, because otherwise a very strong non-positive connection and vibration-free mounting of the profiles can not be guaranteed.
The next processing step is to connect the profiles via dowel and screw very strong non-positive with the subsoil. You can use brass and percussion anchors M8 and Screw DIN 7991 M8 x 80 mm for example.
The maximum distance of the screws per profile support leg must not exceed 300 mm.
You have to lay the flooring with a normal joint distance against the profile and joints have to be filled up with epoxy resin mortar very strong non-positive, to the lower leg of the surcharge profile, be closed on the smoothing.
By prefabrication you have to ensure a flat floor for installing the profile's.
Otherwise it could come to damages in the transition region between the covering and the profile.
A proper function of the profile is only possible through an absolutely vibration free and frictional assembly.
